Relief Bank staff enable Unity Works to provide a flexible, high-quality service by replacing permanent staff during periods of leave or sickness absence.

Relief Bank members who work in the Unity Works’ Employment team assist adults with learning disabilities in the workplace, developing their work, presentation and social skills to strengthen their links in the community.

We are looking for Relief Bank Job Coaches for our new Employment service in Essex to support people with autism.

Members of the Bank are not employees of Unity Works and are free accept shifts based on their availability.


1. To support individuals to job interviews, work placements, paid work and training.

2. To help the people we support to become orientated to the workplace through induction and support.

3. To implement an individual job coaching programme for service users entering employment based on the task analysis.

4. To monitor and record a job coaching programme with the people we support and employers.

5. To liaise with employers over any matters affecting the coaching programme.

6. To liaise with Employment Advisors to ensure implementation of job coaching programme.

7. Where necessary accompany candidates to and from the place of work.

8. Where necessary, address and reinforce employment related issues – Health and Safety, presentation, work relationships, times for tea breaks, other practicalities of the workplace

9. Promote contacts with natural supports (work colleagues) to enable people we support to be fully involved member of the work force.

10. To find appropriate strategy for withdrawal of coaching.

Job Profile: Relief Bank Job Coach Essex – March 2019


A positive attitude towards working with people with learning disabilities entering employment.

Ability to support people within a work setting to complete employment tasks.

An understanding of health and safety in the work place

Ability to teach people new skills in an employment setting.

Ability to support people to develop travel skills.

Ability to support people, including those with limited speech, to communicate their needs and make their choices known

An understanding of and a willingness to work within a culture of equalities and diversity.
