The Camden Society provides a range of innovative and modern services enabling people with a learning disability to live full and satisfying lives across London.

We are seeking Support Workers for our service Community Support Southwark.

About Community Support Southwark

Community Support Southwark is an exciting and innovative service that supports children and adults with learning disabilities and autism from our base in Bermondsey and in the community, across London and beyond. Community Support Southwark gives people the opportunity to develop their Ideal Week ensuring they are doing what matters to them. The people we support have a range of needs and our team must be flexible and forward thinking to support people to progress and achieve their goals and aspirations.

About the Role

Community Support Southwark is a unique service that offers staff the opportunity to support people in exciting ways. At Riverside (our base) you will support people to develop their interests and skills in art, music, film, dance, website design, cooking skills and much more. In the community you will support people to travel train, learn how to interact independently (or as much as they can), develop friendships and do exciting activities and sessions that the people we support design themselves.  

You will work flexibly within a committed team to deliver high-quality, individual services to the people we support.

You will support people to:

  • Explore their interests and develop their Ideal Week Access opportunities in training, leisure, education and employment
  • Keep in touch with friends
  • Learn how to stay healthy and well

About You

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience working with vulnerable people in a community setting
  • An understanding of supporting people with a learning disability and/or autism spectrum disorder
  • The ability to ‘think on your feet’
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Basic IT & record keeping skills Skills to deliver personal support with dignity
  • Experience of working with people with learning disabilities is desirable, but not essential.

We provide a full induction and training programme to help you to develop in your role.
