Welcome back to The Great Escape 2019

Back by popular demand, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be running the Great Escape in 2019!

Since 2011, we have run a weekly holiday scheme for people with a learning disability to escape the city and enjoy time with their friends. The Great Escape is for people with disabilities who like any or all of these things:

• Taking dips in the pool or rambling through the countryside on nature walks
• Sharing summer picnics, cooking together, and eating hearty meals
• Making photographs, films, paintings and sculptures in arts and crafts sessions
• Scooting off to the village pub for long summer lunches
• Playing team games and sports or cheering friends on to win
• Taking day trips to local castles, museums, outward bound centres and zoos
• Toasting marshmallows around a campfire
• Catching up with friends over breakfast outside
• Getting away from it all

How is The Great Escape going to be funded?

People we support are already brainstorming ideas on how to raise money for their holiday with ideas ranging from  sports days to fundraising dinners. Fundraising ideas will be used to create exciting events which people we support and supporters of The Camden Society can enjoy together. We aim to create positive experiences for all, offering people with disabilities who can't afford a break, and who haven't had a holiday in years, a week of relaxation and fun.

Don’t forget to follow The Great Escape on social media using the hashtag #TGE2019. We look forward to updating you all on events throughout 2019!

In the meantime, if you would like to get involved in fundraising for The Great Escape then contact our Fundraising Assistant, Judith Walker at development@thecamdensociety.co.uk or on 020 7485 8177.
