Musician Tom set to run London Marathon

Musician Tom Cameron is to put himself to the test running for the Camden Society in this year's London Marathon on 22 April 2012. Aiming to raise £1,500 to help us develop more community music sessions for people with disabilities in our day services in Camden, Southwark and Tower Hamlets, Tom has begun some heavy duty training.

His first ever marathon, Tom decided to run for the Camden Society through a personal contact who runs some of our music sessions. As Tom says, "My friend Jim told me about the music work he took part in and I was touched by his stories and inspired that music could be used in such a positive way. I'm hoping to play at the next Great Escape festival - Maybe we could work on a song together?! I hope that the money raised can be of use for all involved and that I can actively take part in upcoming events in some way. I'm aiming to run in less than 4 hours. I must be mad!"

We're delighted that Tom has chosen us as his dedicated charity and look forward to building support for Tom in the weeks to come, not to mention getting our banners out by the roadside on the big day. We're also extremely pleased to have an opportunity to develop our music sessions as they offer great benefits in supporting people with learning disabilities with communication and self-expression.
