At The Camden Society we are currently running various classroom based courses for adults with learning disabilities. All courses are designed to empower our students with the aim of effecting positive long term changes in their lives. Courses are run by qualified tutors and we are looking for volunteers to act as mentors within sessions for the students.

The Classes

Currently we have a wide range of courses available to our students that cover over three areas:

Health & Wellbeing

Helping people to understand constructive ways of managing their health and wellbeing.  From healthy eating and cookery classes; physical activities, relaxation and building hobbies such as arts and crafts, drama etc.

Life Skills

Sessions around various skills to help reduce the exclusion that is often felt by people with learning disabilities.  Including building confidence in the community, money management, time management and digital technologies. All our courses are built with our students at the forefront. They are engaging and practical based sessions.

The Role of a Volunteer

Our volunteers help mentor our trainees by sharing their own experiences, being an encouraging and positive support for people. They offer a different side of inspiration for our students; they are not professionals telling students what they should and shouldn’t be doing.  Volunteers are every day people from the community, who offer just that element – community spirit and personal interaction.

Full training and support is offered as standard.
