How we are run

Our Trustees
The Camden Society is governed by a Board of Trustees that meets quarterly. Responsible for overseeing our policy and strategy, our trustees make sure that we continue to work towards our aims and objectives according to the values that underpin our organisation.
With a strong culture of user involvement, we ensure that people with learning disabilities themselves are represented on the Board and are fully involved in planning our organisation's activities.

Our Staff
The Camden Society employs a high quality, diverse workforce of over 200 people. Our staff are recruited primarily on the basis of a shared commitment to our belief in the values of person-centred support. Staff are chosen by service users themselves.
We are committed to ensuring that service users get the best quality of service possible from staff. It is essential therefore that our staff are skilled, motivated and well trained. All our frontline staff meet, and far exceed, all legal requirements for working in social care. Our Investor in People status reflects our significant investment in training and development to ensure that people continue to develop the expertise needed to deliver high quality services.
Importantly, the Camden Society is an employer of people with learning disabilities.

Value for Money
The Camden Society is committed to providing good services, efficiently. In purchasing from the Camden Society, value for money is achieved through the broad and integrated range of services that we offer. People using one of our services benefit from immediate access to a wide range of other services across our main delivery areas of supported living, training, employment and leisure.
All Camden Society services operate on a tightly monitored and managed, project-specific cost basis. To ensure continual competitiveness, we routinely benchmark our management and administration costs against those across the whole sector.

Quality
We hold high standards with regard to quality. Our services must be delivered in line with the Camden Society's mission and values. To ensure this, our services are regularly evaluated and we use the PQASSO model as our quality assurance system.
The Camden Society has achieved a range of accreditations, quality marks and standards. Our City Living Services are accredited through the Supporting People Quality Assessment Framework and we are a CSCI-registered domiciliary care provider. We also hold the 'Positive about Disabled People' accreditation.
We have won awards for our innovative practice, most recently for our social enterprises and peer volunteering projects. We are a Jobcentre Plus accredited provider, an approved provider for the London Open College Network (LOCN), and are accredited by the Hospitality Awarding Body as an NVQ assessment centre.
We are currently working towards the National Autistic Society's Autism Accreditation standards and the Matrix standard for Information, Advice and Guidance work.

Sustainable Development
We hold accreditation for our sustainable development practices. We are aware of the ways in which our business impacts on the environment and are committed to reducing those impacts. We design our services to make sure that everyone in our organisation, and the wider community, benefits from social, economic and environmental sustainability.
We are committed to ensuring that these principles are embedded throughout everything we do. For example, we employ local people first wherever possible, we source the food for resale in our cafe enterprises from local producers, we operate a reuse and recycle policy & we include sustainability modules in all our training programmes.
