Royal approval for Unity Kitchen St. Luke's

Daunting as it may be to accept a request to cater for Prince Philip at an event staged by young people’s charity London Youth, Unity Kitchen certainly rose to the challenge recently. Sharpening their knives, experimenting with recipes and sourcing fine ingredients in preparation, our team of five UK staff and apprentices created a feast fit for a Prince at the Peel Centre in King's Cross and got a pre-dinner chance to meet the distinguished visitor.

Unfazed by the pressure our team got down to business, creating a special menu of rosemary and garlic lamb rump, roasted autumnal vegetables and butternut squash with ricotta, pine nuts and oregano cannelloni. Followed by mini pavlovas and raspberry coulis, Prince Philip’s table received a sterling service by Roki Hussein and Pascal Downie-Dear, paid apprentices on our UnityWorks scheme.

Determined to pass on his compliments to the chefs and find out more about Unity Kitchen Prince Philip went behind the scenes after dinner to personally thank our catering team which also included Amy McParland, Andrea Waters and Jason Ryle – staff at UK St. Luke’s. The guest of honour then spent time asking questions about the Camden Society’s work and listened with interest as Roki and Pascal described their passion for cooking and customer service at our Unity Kitchen Islington branch.

Having thoroughly enjoyed the experience of gaining the royal stamp of approval, Unity Kitchen is looking forward to future delicious commissions. Book your event catering today at:
